EMOTIONAL STRESS AND INSOMNIA

STRESS EMOTIVO ED INSONNIA

When emotional stress is too high, it can eventually lead to sleep disorders such as insomnia

Emotional stress can be divided into two types

Emotional stress can be divided into two types: stress positive (eustress) and negative stress (distress). It may seem counterintuitive, but a certain level of stress is important for staying active. Whether a situation feels stressful or stimulating is highly subjective. However, when the stress level is too high to tolerate or lasts too long, perceiving it can have negative effects on our health and well-being. In particular, emotional stress involves an overload of emotions that causes a general feeling of distress. Stress can be triggered by various situations, such as a major change at work, the loss of a loved one or family problems. If ignored, over time it can lead to general unease and irritability. These emotional states create a vicious cycle: irritability reduces quality of life and causes sleep problems which, in turn, increase irritability and emotional stress. Taking care of psychological and physical well-being is essential to prevent these disorders or at least ease symptoms that negatively affect a person’s emotional state. One of the factors that most affects everyday life is insomnia.

What is insomnia?

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder worldwide. Around 10% of the Italian population experiences it. People affected by this condition have difficulty falling asleep, wake up frequently during the night or wake up much earlier than intended. According to a study published by Phillips, only 47% of Italians are satisfied with their night’s rest. People who suffer from insomnia often feel fatigued and tired when they wake up in the morning. One of the most common causes of this disorder is emotional stress. Many people do not pay enough attention to this factor because they accept sleep problems as unchangeable. In fact, people may simply accept their situation if they experience insomnia later in life or during a period of heightened stress. However, ignoring insomnia over the long term can have more serious consequences than you might think.

Ideal rest and sleep quality

Ideal rest and sleep quality are closely connected. On average, a person is expected to spend one-third of their life sleeping. Sleep is a highly important state of unconsciousness divided into distinct, measurable stages. Broadly, these can be divided into REM sleep, when we dream, and non-REM sleep. The amount of rest a person needs is highly subjective and may vary with age. On average, an adult needs between six and eight hours of sleep per night. Healthy, balanced rest depends on the sleep-wake cycle, scientifically known as the circadian rhythm. These two phases can be distinguished by specific changes in physiological conditions. When we fall asleep, various hormones are released and suppressed in the body. One molecule in particular, melatonin, is known to play a key role in nighttime rest. This molecule is broken down during the day through exposure to sunlight.

A natural solution for insomnia

Finding a natural solution  for sleep problems is possible and also involves developing healthy habits. To achieve healthy, balanced rest, it helps to prepare a few hours beforehand with simple steps, such as doing physical activity regularly, drinking a relaxing herbal tea instead of coffee or cocoa in the late afternoon, and avoiding mobile phones and computers before bed. Simple breathing or yoga exercises can also contribute to restorative sleep. It can help to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day, avoid sleeping too long at weekends and restore your circadian rhythm. Another source of natural plant-based support is SERENIS. SERENIS is a product designed to help address insomnia by targeting emotional stress, one of its main causes. SERENIS has the advantage of not causing drowsiness or dependence. Its formula is designed to promote a state of emotional relaxation and thus support sleep. This formula not only helps restore peaceful, restorative sleep but may also be used for emotional stress and difficulty concentrating during the day.

SERENIS is a natural plant-based product

SERENIS is 100% plant-based and has a formula designed to support the body. Hawthorn is a small tree belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is known for beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system and muscles thanks to its tonic action. Lemon balm helps rebalance the nervous system and is known in natural medicine for its calming properties, which can help counter anxiety. Rhodiola grows at high altitudes and has been used since ancient times to address fatigue and physical and mental stress. Its stress-relieving properties may also support memory, making it useful during periods of study. Finally, Passionflower incarnata belongs to a family that includes nearly 520 plants. Due to its sedative and calming effects on the central nervous system, it is used to help with anxiety, palpitations and sleep in the traditional medicine of various cultures.

Thanks to our exclusive process, BIOENERGETIC EXTRACTION, the result obtained in the phytocomplex of SERENIS is not simply the sum of the individual plants, but a bioenergetic product that greatly enhances their beneficial properties and effectiveness.
