Arnica montana flowers, a truly precious ingredient: what they are and where they grow
Arnica montana is a herbaceous plant in the Asteraceae family, with distinctive yellow-orange flowers used in herbal medicine as a natural remedy for inflammation and pain relief . It can be useful for traumatic muscle pain, rheumatism and bruising.
Arnica montana flowers are grown for us by a farm in Ronchi Valsugana and grow at an altitude of 1,730 metres, on the slopes of Mount Ciste, in lush, carefully maintained fields.
Between June and July, the mature flowers are picked by hand, one by one, and placed in wicker baskets without piling them up, to preserve each flower’s integrity. Hand-picking ensures that only mature flowers are picked so that buds that are not yet ready can continue to grow and mature. The flower-picking walks, which we have personally taken part in, become healthy, restorative experiences and create an invaluable connection with nature in all its forms.
Harvesting takes place over several weeks, weather permitting.
Once picked, the flowers are transferred to larger baskets and left to dry naturally for several days so that they lose their internal moisture.

Relieving congestion and muscle fatigue, by supporting the removal of lactic acid and toxins produced during physical activity, is one of the key factors in rapid muscle recovery and is especially important for helping prevent bothersome injuries. This cream-gel is made using our BIOENERGETIC EXTRACTION, which produces a highly concentrated extract rich in active compounds.
In addition to containing 30% arnica montana flower mother tincture (the highest concentration actually available on the market), the cream also contains birch sap, willow, ash and devil’s claw, as well as essential oils of peppermint, Litsea cubeba, cinnamon, patchouli and sweet orange .

The Birch sap, from which the gemmotherapy extract is obtained, contains two heterosides that can release methyl salicylate enzymatically, a substance with analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity. Methyl salicylate acts on the COX-2 enzyme, an important enzyme in the inflammatory cascade, inhibiting its action, significantly reducing pain and helping remove fluid retained in tissues. It can be useful in cases of rheumatoid arthritis and joint inflammation.
The Ash is a plant in the Oleaceae family with notable medicinal properties. Its leaf extract has diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic and anti-arthritic properties, due to coumarins (fraxin, fraxetin, frassinol and esculetin) and flavonoids (quercetin, rutin and hydroxyframoside), which inhibit the production of endogenous inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins.
TheDevil’s claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) is a perennial plant in the Pedaliaceae family used to help relieve painful joint conditions, rheumatism, osteoarthritis and arthritis thanks to its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Its roots are rich in glucoiridoids, including harpagoside and procumbide, which act like NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) without causing the same stomach-related side effects. They inhibit the COX-2 enzyme, interrupting the inflammatory cascade.
The Willow is a plant in the Salicaceae family, known since ancient times for salicylic acid, a well-known active compound found in its bark. Salicylic acid is the precursor of acetylsalicylic acid, the active ingredient in aspirin. The resulting extract has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antineuralgic, antipyretic and antirheumatic properties, and has also been shown to help with painful and inflammatory conditions such as rheumatic pain, arthritis and tendinitis.
